4. Benteng-bentengan
The origin of Benteng-bentengan game is unknown, but it has existed since a long time
ago and is widely known throughout Indonesia under various names. This game is played
by two groups of 4 to 8 people each. Each group selects a location as a base, typically a
pole, stone, or pillar as a ‘fortress’.
When playing the game, players must comply with the rules outlined below:
1. Players must maintain their benteng.
2. Players who exit the fortress/benteng are considered to be the first to invade. This
player will be pursued by the opponent, and if touched by the opponent's hand, he
or she will be considered caught.
3. The earlier captured player became the opponent's prisoner.
4. Players must frequently return and touch benteng.
5. The group that touches the opponent's pole or pillar first and shouts "Benteng!"
wins.
